Privacy Policy

👋 Overview

This Privacy Policy applies to the GovScope Android application and any associated web services operated by DGZGames. By using GovScope, you agree to the practices described here.

📋 Data We Collect

Account information. When you create an account, we collect your email address and display name. If you sign in with Google, we receive your name and email from Google's authentication service. We do not receive or store your Google password.

Match profile. If you create a match profile, we store the organization name, mission description, keywords, organization type, location, and opportunity type preferences that you provide. This information is used solely to generate match scores against available opportunities.

Saved opportunities. We store the IDs of opportunities you save so they persist across sessions and devices.

Keyword alerts. Keyword strings you create as alerts are stored in your Firestore account document. These are used by our nightly Cloud Function to match new opportunities and send push notifications. Keyword alerts are a Pro feature.

Device push token (FCM). When you sign in on a device with a Professional license, we store your Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM) device token in your account document. This token is used solely to deliver keyword alert push notifications to your device. It is automatically refreshed and cleared when your account is deleted or the token becomes invalid.

Usage data. We do not currently collect analytics, telemetry, or behavioral tracking data beyond what Firebase provides by default for app stability (crash reports).

Payment information. License purchases are processed by the Google Play billing system. We do not receive or store your payment card details.

⚙️ How We Use It

• Providing the service. Your match profile is used locally on-device to score and rank opportunities. Your saved IDs and alerts are synced to Firestore so they are available across sessions.
• Access control. Your account record in Firestore determines whether you have a free or licensed account. License status is set server-side and cannot be altered by the client.
• Communications. We may use your email address to send transactional messages such as password resets or critical service notices. We do not send marketing emails without your consent.
• App stability. Firebase Crashlytics may collect anonymized crash and error reports to help us diagnose and fix bugs.

We do not use your data to train machine learning models, build advertising profiles, or share it with third parties for marketing purposes.

🔗 Third-Party Services

GovScope relies on the following third-party services, each governed by their own privacy policies:

• Google Firebase (Firestore, Authentication) — stores your account record, saved opportunities, and keyword alerts. Governed by Google's Privacy Policy.
• Google Sign-In (Credential Manager) — used for optional Google authentication. We only receive your name and email to create your account profile.
• Google Play Billing — processes license purchases. Payment details never reach our servers.

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to any third party. We may disclose information if required by law or to protect the rights and safety of our users.

🏛️ Public Data Sources

GovScope aggregates publicly available government data from the following sources. This data is not personal and is openly published by the U.S. federal government:

• SAM.gov — federal contract and solicitation notices.
• Grants.gov — federal grant opportunities.
• USAspending.gov — federal award and spending records.

GovScope does not claim ownership of this data. It is displayed for informational purposes only. Always verify opportunity details, deadlines, and eligibility requirements directly with the issuing agency before submitting an application.

🔑 Your Rights

Access and portability. You may request a copy of the personal data we hold about you at any time by contacting us at the address below.

Correction. You may update your match profile and display name at any time within the app.

Deletion. You may permanently delete your account directly from the GovScope app under Profile → Close account. This removes your Firestore record and Firebase Authentication account immediately and cannot be undone. If you hold a professional license, it is also removed and is not refunded unless required by applicable law.

Withdraw consent. You may sign out at any time. Signing out stops any further sync of your data to our servers.

🔒 Security

Your data is stored in Google Cloud Firestore with security rules that restrict access to authenticated users viewing only their own documents. Firebase Authentication handles credential management; we never store passwords in plain text.

No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure. While we follow industry-standard practices, we cannot guarantee absolute security. In the event of a breach that affects your personal data, we will notify you as required by applicable law.

🧒 Children

GovScope is intended for use by organizations and professionals researching government funding opportunities. It is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

📝 Policy Changes

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Material changes will be communicated through the app or via the email address associated with your account. Continued use of GovScope after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
